About St. Johns Christian Church

Christian Church Values Portland Oregon

Our Values

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, correcting and training in righteousness…” (2 Tim. 3:16).
We believe that the teaching, preaching and personal study of God’s Word is essential to the Christian life.

“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).
We are committed to individual and corporate prayer as a demonstration of our complete reliance on God.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20a).
We strive to reach lost people with the message of God’s grace. We desire that people repent and be baptized.

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).
We endeavor to be a church characterized by loving relationships.

“Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care” (Psalm 95:6-7).
We desire to worship in a way that brings glory to God, builds up the body of Christ and is an attractive witness to the unbelieving world. We know that authentic worship is more than simply music, but encompasses our whole lives.

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10).
We serve God by serving His people. Our faith is not merely one that affects our own lives; it is a faith that looks outward at the needs of others.
