St. Johns Christian Church – Worship

St. Johns Christian Church Worship

What is worship?

St. Johns Christian Church meets weekly for a corporate experience of worship.

Worship is not just music, or prayer, or Bible reading. And worship is not only done on Sundays in a building in a “service”. Worship, which is an action word, is expressed on a daily basis in a variety of ways, mostly in how we live our lives for and through Christ and our desire to know Him. Sunday morning or corporate worship should be an extension of how we live on a daily basis.

We believe there are many appropriate ways to express our love to God: by praying, singing, obeying, trusting, giving, testifying, thanking, listening and responding to His Word and many more expressions. And it encourages, strengthens and changes us, because God receives our worship. He is the only one for whom true worship exists.

Romans 12:1b “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.”

We strive to live a lifestyle of worship by responding to the Spirit’s leading through baptism, prayer, confession, repentance, giving, posture and communion.

Ephesians 4:12 “…to prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up…”

We strive to share the gospel through music and scripture and to teach a deeper knowledge, understanding and relationship with God through worship.

There is a worship that expresses the heart, and worship that involves the mind, and a worship that involves the body. There is worship that is giving praise upward, worship that is receiving instructions from above, and worship that carries out instruction in the world around us.

Worship is also expressing our love to God, which is fueled by an intimate relationship with Him and a hunger to know Him.

Experience God’s presence through worship. Gather with us every Sunday morning at 10:45 AM for a corporate experience of worship. Bible Fellowship Classes for all ages begin at 9:30 AM.
